Micro needling

Micro needling is a true make-over for your skin. This treatment, called skin needling, is the perfect way of making your skin glow. Micro needling is a non-invasive treatment that combats scar tissue, uneven skin tone, or fine lines. At the same time micro needling stimulates the natural production of collagen, an important component of the connective tissue in your body. At Release Laser Clinic you always start with a personal consultation. This is where we explain what you can expect, how the treatment with the skin needle pen works and what the conditions are for a treatment. Naturally, any specific wishes from your side will be discussed during this consultation.

We always begin the treatment by carefully cleansing and disinfecting the skin. During the treatment we apply hyaluronan serum to your skin, after which we move the skin needle pen over your skin in a smoothing motion. The treatment will give a slightly sharp, but very tolerable sensation. After treatment a soothing mask is applied, helping your skin regenerate. To protect your skin from the sun we apply SPF 500+ sunscreen at the end of the treatment.

IS SKIN NEEDLING FOR ME?

The majority of people are eligible for skin needling treatment. We always recommend booking a free consultation with us first. There we can assess and discuss your skin, to make sure this treatment is right and safe for you. We usually do not recommend this treatment to active acne sufferers, but this can be assessed during your personal consultation.

HOW DOES THIS TREATMENT DIFFER FROM ONE WITH DERMAL ROLLERS?

With dermal rollers, such as those found on the internet, you will never achieve the results of our advanced medical equipment. The biggest difference is in the size and depth of the needle we use. The needles in the notorious ‘home kits’ are much smaller and cannot penetrate the dermis in the correct way. This can even lead to damage to the skin, when used incorrectly.

DOES IT HURT?

This treatment is virtually painless. We aim to make the experience as pleasant as possible. The sensation that occurs as the pen moves over the treatment area can be described as a quick, light buzz with a light movement on the skin.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE FOR MY SKIN TO RECOVER?

The redness and inflammation of the skin, which is normal with this treatment, will fade away within a few hours for most clients. The skin should be back to normal within 12-24 hours. Our therapists will assist you in your skin care routine after your treatment.

WILL THERE BE BLOOD?

Not everyone bleeds. It really depends on how your skin reacts to the needles. Our therapists will never allow the needle to penetrate deeper than your skin can take. By the way, seeing blood does not mean better results.

WHAT AFTEREFFECTS SHOULD I EXPECT?

For the first 24 hours after treatment your skin will be reddish, scratched and swollen. Small blood pricks fade away gradually over 24 to 48 hours. After treatment your skin may react with breakouts and cold sores. If you are an acne sufferer, this may get worse over the first 3-4 days. This is a normal reaction as the skin pushes out toxins that have accumulated under the skin, and then regenerates.

WHICH RESULTS CAN I EXPECT FROM MICRO NEEDLING?

During a free and no-obligation consultation with one of our clinical therapists, we can establish if micro needling is appropriate for you. Micro needling is mostly used to make the skin more youthful, but also to minimize pigmentation disorders. Because micro needling restructures skin, this skin needle treatment is also suited to treat scaring, caused by acne, for example. An advantage, in comparison to other treatments, is that the recovery time is much shorter. There is no damage to the skin, so that clients are able to go out and about much sooner.

HOW MANY SESSIONS DO I NEED?

Micro needling treatment is meant for all skin types and ages. Although the treatment for more mature and sun-damaged skin takes more time than youthful skin. It will also take more time for the desired results to be achieved. On average 6-8 sessions are needed in a 2-6 week period. During the consultation we will be able to give a better indication of the amount and frequency of sessions needed, depending on your skin type and condition.
